USA :: San Diego :: Rose Canyon

Rose Canyon Park North Entrance Table at Genesee Avenue

Trip Summary

Multiple Dates, last Jan 14 2024

Rose Canyon Open Space Preserve is great natural resource in UTC Urban jungle.  It stretches on east side of I-5 from San Clemente Canyon / I-52 to UTC Nobel Area, roughly following Coastal Train line.  There are several access points along the way.  While living in UTC I'd often after work stroll down La Jolla Colony Drive then after crossing Train line (Caution!)  walk up on east side to Genesee Avenue and loop back.  Along the way is marked East Regents Road access;  overgrown trail climbs up to nice viewpoint of what I've dubbed "Regents Ridge" and is great spot to watch the Sunset.   Many other variations exist that range to quick jog to several hours of exploration.
