These galleries are from 11 week South American journey, Feb 1 - Apr 19, 2023. Trip was self arranged in its entirety - you see far more and pay far less when compared with organized treks with companies like G-Adventures, Intrepid etc.
Entry / Exit point was Buenos Aires, and this was the only return Air ticket. Rest consisted of 1-way hopping, utilizing variety of transports, including South American Airlines, Buses and even Boats.
South America is generally very safe; I felt safer than walking in big North American cities. English is spoken, but not much and some Spanish is a must. Prior to the journey I picked up a bit via Duolingo, and it was golden; by the end of the trip I was able to converse almost without problems. Entire trip went without a single hitch.
Definite Highlights were 1) Easter Island - Rapa Nui and 2) El Chalten. Fabled Torres Del Paine that was initial motivation for the journey was also breathtaking, but notorious bad Patagonia weather put a stamp; I still enjoyed W-Circuit with overnight at "Refugios" (Lodges).
