Remote Island in middle of Pacific Ocean, famous for iconic Moai sculptures, I always wanted to see since getting infatuated by Erich Von Daniken books in early childhood.  Finally in Spring of '23 I visited "Isla De Pascua", as part of longer South American journey.  Often you get disappointed by simply expecting too much, but in this case my expectations were exceeded!  It is a different world and words or pictures can't really describe it.  Photo below is from Ahu Tongariki, one of main 2 Archaeological sites at North Part of the Island, with Poike volcano in the background

Ahu TongarikiNothing speaks "Easter Island" to me more than Ahu Tongariki. 12 Moais, several kings, on a platform by the Bay with "guardian" in foreground. It is impossible to even remotely appreciate this site on a brief tour with "guide"; luckily it is still visible from the road, just far away. Poike volcano in the background
