Trekking in Nepal is not all about mountain landscapes; it is also a cultural journey. Buddhist and Hindu Monuments in Kathmandu, Lake Phewa and International Mountain Museum in Pokhara are well worth exploring. Most visitors will arrive to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Instead of rushing straight to Himalayas it is well worth staying extra couple of days. It will also help with Jet Lag, better dealt with in the City than in mountains. Tourist popular Thamel has many inexpensive hotels, restaurants and shops where one can buy all kinds of gear required for mountain trekking. Some Kathmandu tourist attractions I found well worth visiting:

When trekking in Annapurna Region, Pokhara will be logical stop -- either as staging area, or post trek recovery. Like Thamel in Kathamndu, there are many hotels along the main street near Phewa waterfront. Places worth visiting in Pokhara include:

Once in the mountains trekkers pass through many unique Nepalese villages, filled with Buddhist monuments with friendly people. Even if call of the mountains will be loud, it pays off not to rush towards ultimate destination and enjoy overall journey instead.
