Tenerife kicked off Canary Islands part of great Spain '25 trek. During planning stage I was aware visiting all the Islands was not realistic. Tenerife surfaced almost immediately as a "must" - because of Mt. Teide volcano, highest point in Spain and highest point above Sea Level in the Islands of the Atlantic. After flying to Santa Cruz de Tenerife from Seville and renting a car I drove to Puerto de la Cruz, where good AirBnB rental was base for next 4 days.
Teide, most visited National Park in Spain, was definite highlight. I managed to squeeze both "Teleferico" (famous Teide Cable Car), summit ascent and descent via "Montana Blanca" hiking trail. Summit panoramas were sublime; to the point that really made me happy to be alive and witness something like this in person. Check out full report in style of my Canadian Hiking Adventures

But Tenerife is not only Teide. I spent full day exploring capital Santa Cruz and it was well worth (just don't come during the Carnival in March, when it's ultra busy). I also explored west side of the Island, including Icod de los Vinos and Garachico. Like everything else on Canary Islands this was just scratching the surface; leaving on Los Cristianos Ferry for La Gomera I couldn't escape feeling that I could easily spend full month on Tenerife.
