Death Valley is surreal. One of hottest places on the planet, it offers amazing desert landscape. There are also peaks to climb, including Telescope Peak in Panamint Range, highest point in the park and great day hike from Charcoal Kilns in Wildrose Canyon. Badwater Basin and Artist Palette scenic drive are among the must see places, while Rhyolite Ghost Town just outside Park east border is one of a kind relic of bygone Gold Rush Days.

Park is best visited in winter or late fall/early spring because of extreme heat during rest of the year. Accommodations range from expensive lodging to one of several campgrounds scattered around the park. Economy Alternatives are motels in Lone Pine, California ~ 1.5 hr drive west, or Beatty Nevada ~30min to the East. Beatty is my preferred location because of proximity of Rhyolite - Ghost Town of bygone Gold Rush Days and a must visit
