Zenfolio Sucks

Autumn Sky has been hosted on Zenfolio for almost 10 years;   mix of Hiking and Photography content, with pluses and minuses but overall decent back-end support.   But that has now changed:   In their inability to accommodate / index large amounts of Media, Zenfolio came with "brilliant" concept - archiving (deleting) Customer Galleries older than 14 months.   What does that really mean?  Many, many pages have now simply became crippled.  Claim that Content can be restored is false - I am running into Galleries that have some photos still available, and some not.   Contacting their Customer Support was even more humiliating;  messages were ignored  for more than a week, then response full of political mumbo-jumbo capped off with "We can help you close your account if you want".   It is hard to believe long-term paying customers would be treated this way, but it is true.

I am now scrambling to restore content from private backups, but it is Sisyphus effort and not a permanent solution.  Besides uncertainty what might happen in the future, there is also very sour taste left when someone invalidates work you have been building for a long time, and I simply don't enjoy creating or maintaining it anymore.

All this is to say this Site might not be around for much longer.   I am evaluating various options;  Photos are easy to migrate, but Hiking Trip Reports are not as source HTML/Java Script is coupled with Zenfolio specifics and not portable.  While Site is still around, if you see something in Hiking Portion (specially GPS tracks) you'd like to access but can't - please let me know, and I will send it to you directly.
