This National Park encompasses region of Southern California Mojave Desert dotted with endemic peculiar looking Joshua Trees. Usual access is from the north along Hwy 62. Small Towns Twenty Nine Palms and Joshua Tree offer accommodation and supplies. There are several campgrounds in the park but they are booked well through the season. Most visitors just drive through the park but there are several hiking opportunities - including highly recommended Lost Horse Mine loop. It is also famous in rock climber community because of high quality, grippy rock and surreal landscape. From photography perspective most rewarding are long exposure starry night sky shots, but for that overnight in the park is required.
